This cold winter is a good reminder of how important it is that you have a roadside emergency kit in your car at all times. If it's been one of those things on your to-do list, now is the time to prepare that kit before you go out and drive during these cold winter month.

The following are a few tips for preparing your roadside emergency kit:

  • In your glove box – There are several items that you should keep in your glove box. This includes a mobile phone, your phone charger and an auto-safety hammer. The last thing you want to do is become abandoned on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere with no way to contact anyone!
  • In your trunk – Use a canvas bag or a plastic bin to store the following essentials: a flashlight, a portable radio, extra batteries, jumper cables, warm blankets, drinking water, extra shoes, extra clothes, a basic tool kit, flares, a first-aid kit, paper towels, and non-perishable snacks.
  • Winter accessories – There are certain accessories you won’t want to be without during the winter. These include an ice scraper, a snow brush, a snow shovel, and a bag of sand or salt to help with traction.

These are the items that you should be sure to have when preparing your roadside emergency kit. For more safety tips or information about buying car insurance, be sure to contact us at CCW Insurance today.
