Motorcycle Safety Course Can Reduce Your Monthly Rate

Motorcycle Safety Course Can Reduce Your Monthly Rate

There are plenty of advantages to owning a motorcycle. First of all, riding a motorcycle is an absolute blast. Secondly, a motorcycle takes up way less space than a car and last but not least, you won’t be spending nearly as much money on gas for a motorcycle as you would with a car. However, because riding a motorcycle is more dangerous than driving a car, motorcycle insurance can sometimes be more expensive.

Fortunately, there is a way that you can lower the premiums on your motorcycle insurance. Many insurance companies will provide a discount if you take and complete a motorcycle safety course. Insurance companies believe (and rightly so) that the more training you have, the less of a chance you’ll have of being in an accident. In many cases, you’ll be able to save as much as 15 percent off your motorcycle insurance premiums.

Don’t just enroll into any motorcycle safety course. Be sure to contact your insurance company in order to request a list of approved motorcycle safety schools. Many companies will only accept completion certificates from specific programs. There are usually two courses to choose from, both which last one to three days: beginner and expert. Beginner classes involve safe riding techniques, proper riding gear, shifting, stopping, breaking, clutch and throttle control and more. Expert courses involve cornering adjustments, space management, defensive riding techniques, swerving techniques and more.
