Belmar Insurance Agent Takes Part in Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C., Visits with Lawmakers

WASHINGTON — Kacy Campion Renna, CIC of Connelly-Campion- Wright Insurance in Belmar, joined with hundreds of her fellow agents from across the country as part of the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents’ 2017 Federal Legislative Summit.

Participants spent two days, April 5-6, visiting with their Representatives and Senators on Capitol Hill, personally advocating on behalf of Professional Insurance Agents, their clients, and the American free enterprise system.

“Legislative victories on our issues are made possible by the continued commitment and involvement by PIA members. It’s part of our year-round coordinated program of grassroots advocacy,” said Kacy Campion Renna, CIC of CCW Insurance, Belmar, NJ.

PIA members visited scores of their House and Senate offices, personally advocating a host of issues of importance to professional insurance agents including defending state insurance regulation, abolishing the Federal Insurance Office (FIO) and providing a long-term reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

“Many of the issues of critical importance to local insurance agents and their customers are in play in Congress this year. During the summit, Florida Republican Congressman Dennis Ross was named the 2017 PIA National Legislator of the Year, in recognition of his support for PIA’s key legislative priorities. CEO Mike Becker and National President Gary Blackwell (Maine) presented the award at the FLS kickoff breakfast April 6.

“Rep. Ross is a stalwart supporter of professional insurance agents and a fierce advocate of the American Free Enterprise System.” said Campion Renna. “Rep. Ross has played a key role in championing legislation to encourage the development of a private flood insurance market (H.R. 1422) and defending the state system of insurance regulation.
